Lone survivor ‘dragged away’ by ferret in killing rampage
A single devastating ferret attack has left a flagship Waikato conservation project reeling after it wiped out half a vital seabird colony in a bloody rampage.
Only one lone grey-faced petrel (oi) chick survived in its burrow following the initial night attack at Karioi, only to be “dragged away” by the same culprit days later.

Drone ‘incident’ during Balloons Over Waikato landing
A pilot taking part in Balloons Over Waikato had an incident with a drone in Hamilton on Tuesday morning.
The incident happened while the balloon was landing at Wake Park, near Aberdeen School in Dinsdale.
