Boaties with ballast tanks have been dealt a big blow before summer with new rules being placed on wake boats using a significant stretch of the Waikato River.
Biosecurity New Zealand (BNZ) has placed a Controlled Area Notice (CAN) over the river from Whakamaru Dam to Port Waikato, which comes into effect from midnight Friday.
