KiwiRail fined $63,000 after Te Huia train runs red light in Auckland
KiwiRail has been fined $63,000 in relation to a 2023 incident where the Te Huia train failed to obey a red signal at the Penrose station in Auckland.
The train service, which runs between Hamilton and Auckland, was carrying 94 passengers on June 17, 2023, when it went past a red light, setting up a potential collision and causing significant disruption on the Auckland metro network.
