Waipā District Libraries is hosting a PechaKucha event featuring children as the speakers.

A PechaKucha presentation is a format that uses slides or images that are displayed for usually 20 seconds each. The slides move automatically as the presenter is speaking. This format ensures that the speaker is concise, keeps the presentation moving, and gets through all of their content.

We are bringing the 10x20 format to Cambridge for our tamariki to get involved. This means that speakers will talk to 10 slides for 20 seconds each slide.

We are looking for children aged between 8 and 15 years and a minimum of 10 speakers for the event.

Children can register their interest through the library, or register online: www.waipalibraries.org.nz....

How's retirement treating you? Maybe you're in the midst of planning your retirement but haven't quite settled on your forever home yet.

If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you! The Homed team is giving you the opportunity to show us the home you've retired to and tell us why you love it. If you haven't quite left your career behind and you're planning your retirement we want to hear about it on Stuff Nation.

Remember - this doesn't have to be a one off. You can ask your neighbours for business recommendations for DIY products, advice on home improvement or even to invite your neighbours over for a house warming when your forever home is completed.

To share your thoughts and photos with Stuff head to the Stuff Nation page, we prefer submissions between 350-800 words; otherwise email homed@stuff.co.nz.

Remember to send through lots of photos.

We have had a fantastic response to our products and our service over the past six months .

Customers have been inundating us with positive feedback and as word is getting out about Firewood Factory and the level of product and service to match.

What we want to emphasise now is how important it is to buy wood off a reputable operator. We have so many clients who have purchased wood time and time again from a backyard operator and they always get let down, either with wet wood or wood that is filled with debris.

With our wood screening and drying shed we ensure the wood is top quality with the service to match, every time.

This month we’re rolling up our sleeves, putting up our hands, and saying ‘YES’ to giving our time and skills to projects that make Aotearoa a better place to live.

As a mostly volunteer-led organisation, our members know first hand the value and impact that a single volunteer can make in our communities. Imagine then how much can be achieved when several volunteers or even an entire street or neighbourhood decide to work together to achieve the same goal!

Whether you plan to coordinate your own volunteer driven activity, take part in one that’s already been setup, participate in National Volunteer Week (20-26 June), or simply show your own volunteers some extra love this month, know that every bit of effort to give back is a priceless investment in all of our futures.

Want to share your thoughts? Let us know how you’re getting involved this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to:

Dog Poo

Susan from Chartwell

This morning I have again had to go out and pick up a huge amount of dog poo stretching almost from the church on Comries Rd to the intersection with Bankwood Rd. I thought I had caught the culprit, it appears to be a dog running alongside a bike or similar. If this is you or you know who it is … View moreThis morning I have again had to go out and pick up a huge amount of dog poo stretching almost from the church on Comries Rd to the intersection with Bankwood Rd. A dining chair that needs a couple of screws to hold the seat. 2 sheets of MDF 120 x 60cm. A small fan heater that still works well.
