You can also write something nice (in 30 words or less) about your neighbours, community or acts of neighbourliness you've experienced with their new 'Notes for Neighbours' - any sort of note goes including poems! These will be shared on their Facebook, Instagram and website and 5 will be specially chosen to be featured on posters across Aotearoa.

Maybe it is just me but I find this whole 'Black Friday' international marketing campaign offensive on so many levels. Even 'Black November'. Attached is what I remember as 'Black Friday'. I was fire and medical rescue on the day. The advertising campaign is insensitive to the meaning of the term and beyond that it gives no recognition to the ongoing campaign 'Black Lives Matter'. Maybe it is just me but if you are having a 'SALE' then advertise it as a sale and not some dark marketing theme that has no meaning other than enticing people to spend money. My thoughts are not necessarily the thoughts of my wife or others but every November I have to relive that dark day.

They are amazing parents who worked hard, get involved in their community and are great parents to their beautiful son. Not long ago they lost their Dad who passed away and have still been dealing with the grief from this.

As a friend and wanting to try and help out, and so near to christmas I am wanting to put it out there to see if anyone would be willing to come forward and donate some christmas presents for their son along with any items that would be appreciated to help out. Donations can be dropped off to me on Enderley ave, please private message me. Your love and generosity will be greatly appreciated by this family.

This month we want to challenge Neighbourhood Supporters to come together and give generously from the heart this holiday season. With so much going on this time of year it’s easy to get caught up in the festivities and forget about others, especially those having a difficult time.

Whether it’s an elderly neighbour who lives alone to a family on your street working hard to make ends meet, reach out to someone who could use a little extra joy in their life and remind them what the holiday spirit is all about!

Other ideas include fundraising for a local charity, doing a food or toy drive, organising a ‘Secret Santa’ gift exchange on your street, giving a present to a neighbour who helped to make your 2020 better, or even host a community Christmas lunch.

Let us know how you’re giving back in your community in December by emailing: info@neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz
