Poll: Did the shorter free parking period change how much you go to the CBD?

Key Hamilton mayoral race contender Tim Macindoe is backing reverting to two hours free parking in the CBD but his centre-left rival Sarah Thomson isn’t keen.

Last year’s change to just one-hour free between 8am and 8pm Monday to Saturday was designed to encourage more turnover at short-stay parks to theoretically benefit the likes of retailers. The free CBD on-street parking is due to be phased out completely next year.

A Crown-owned subsidence property has come on the market, but whether potential buyers reckon it’s a bargain or risky buy is yet to be seen.

While some might view the Huntly east property as a bargain, Huntly real estate agents reckoned living on top of the mining zone makes some buyers nervous they’re going to “just sink one day”. Although, the agents are fairly confident the area is safe.
