WORSENING WEATHER SITUATION !!
Almost all the North Island is now under a weather warning (alerts already sent from www.lert.info...)
Metservice radar shows the heavy rain .
Precipitation water is at 45Kg/m^2 (green circle). This will cause torrential downpours.
This is becoming worse than first thought by covering more of the country.
We have just received a new Weather Warning while typing which is highly unusual and will get the alert out momentarily.

Scam Alert: Bank cold calls

ASB is warning customers about reports of cold calls from scammers claiming to be from ASB. These scammers are trying to obtain personal information, including usernames, dates of birth, and verification codes sent to your mobile phone.

🛡️ The "Caller Check" Test
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from ASB and you’re unsure, just ask them for a Caller Check. You will then be able to verify the call through the app.

Remember, banks will:​​
❌ Never ask for your banking passwords, PINs, or verification codes​​
❌ Never need to know your full credit card number – especially the CVC
❌ Never ask you to download software or remotely access your device​​
❌ Never ask you to purchase gift cards or transfer funds.

Hamilton woman fights for 21-year rates refund after council admits mistake

A pilates studio owner whose rates were overcharged for 21 years is fighting to get the money refunded by the city council.

Progressive Pilates owner Sonia Lidington estimated she had paid an extra $20,000 over the years, but Hamilton City Council has said it can only refund her $7416.
