Poll: Would you ever stand for council?

Libby Reporter from Waikato Local

A shortage of people keen to stand for local government means 26 council and community board hopefuls will be elected unopposed.

Only two councils outside of Hamilton will be holding full elections in October, and one South Waikato councillor says she had to go door to door to find people to fill the Tīrau Community Board.

Would you ever stand for council? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).

Got more greens than you know what to do with? 🥦🌱🥕

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!

Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫
