Truckies want the 80kph speed limit on the Napier-Taupō highway back at 100kph, even though crash stats point to fewer crashes under the lower limit.
Trucking companies spoken to by the Waikato Times said speed wasn’t the issue - the main problem on New Zealand’s roads was “idiot drivers”.
