What local spot would you like to see cleaned up?
A miniature shanty town-cum-refuse tip that was once the site of a beloved Irish bar and a neighbouring strip club is finally getting cleared of rubbish.
The property at 728 - 750 Victoria St was turned into an unofficial dumping ground after fire destroyed the former Calendar Girls building in May 2018. The neighbouring vacant building that was formerly home to Biddy Mulligan’s Irish pub was razed in a similar incident in early January 2019.

Poll: Are you a Te Huia fan?
All three Hamilton MPs appear to be united behind the retention of the Te Huia passenger rail service between Hamilton and Auckland, as well as potentially expanding it to Tauranga.
But whether Hamilton East’s Ryan Hamilton, Hamilton West’s Tama Potaka and soon-to-be Labour list MP Georgie Dansey have the combined power to shunt transport minister Chris Bishop and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon onto their line of thinking remains to be seen.
