New Zealand's Bug of the Year 2023
Have you voted for New Zealand’s bug of the year yet? 🐞🦗
The Entomological Society of New Zealand has identified 24 strong contenders.
Two of the nominees are being represented by our very own scientists, Dr Chrissie Painting (Tuwhaipapa - Giraffe Weevil) and PhD student, Simon Connolly (Kahuwai - Black Tunnelweb Spider). 🕷️
“Conservation tends to focus on charismatic species such as endangered birds, but invertebrates and their global decline are often overlooked,” says Chrissie.
