Can you Help?
We are a group of ladies who make blankets, jumpers, hats, scarves and gloves for needy people in Moldova, Romania and the Ukraine. The need is very urgent as conditions there are extreme. We knit, crochet and sew all year round so are in constant need of fresh supplies. If you can help with wool (or acrylic) or material scraps suitable for quilting, we would love to have them. Odd balls and part balls of wool or acrylic are fine – we an use them for stripes etc. Please ring me on 021-057-0371 and I will arrange to pick up anything you can donate to our cause. Many thanks. One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

All three Hamilton MPs appear to be united behind the retention of the Te Huia passenger rail service between Hamilton and Auckland, as well as potentially expanding it to Tauranga.
But whether Hamilton East’s Ryan Hamilton, Hamilton West’s Tama Potaka and soon-to-be Labour list MP Georgie Dansey have the combined power to shunt transport minister Chris Bishop and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon onto their line of thinking remains to be seen.

Wild weather in the Waikato
