EarthDiverse announces its Term 4 courses
EarthDiverse is pleased to announce its Term 4 lineup of language, religious diversity and History courses beginning the week of Monday 19 October. Language classes on offer this Term are Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi and Urdu. Religious Diversity classes on offer this Term are World Religions: Buddhism’ and ʻReligion & Nonviolence’ and our newest series of History courses begins this Term with two new course entitled ‘A History of Death’ and ‘An Introduction to European Art History.’ Both in-person and distance-learning options are available, including on-line live-streaming and video-recorded sessions from our classroom, so that you can best decide how and when you choose to study. Scam Alert: Bank cold calls
ASB is warning customers about reports of cold calls from scammers claiming to be from ASB. These scammers are trying to obtain personal information, including usernames, dates of birth, and verification codes sent to your mobile phone.
🛡️ The "Caller Check" Test
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from ASB and you’re unsure, just ask them for a Caller Check. You will then be able to verify the call through the app.
Remember, banks will:
❌ Never ask for your banking passwords, PINs, or verification codes
❌ Never need to know your full credit card number – especially the CVC
❌ Never ask you to download software or remotely access your device
❌ Never ask you to purchase gift cards or transfer funds.

Rubbish data leaves $3m hole in Waikato District Council’s refuse budget
It’s still not known how it happened but an accounting cock-up over rubbish stickers has left a $3 million hole in Waikato District Council’s annual budget.
Last month, the council was told it faced a deficit of $3.9m, mainly due to a correction to its user-pay refuse sticker revenue budget - basically, it wrongly estimated how much money it would take in from sales of council rubbish stickers.
