Fasting from dawn to sunset is obligatory for all adult Muslims (with some exceptions). The nightly feast that breaks the fast is called iftar. Muslims devote themselves instead to prayer and study of the Quran.

The Waiuku Wind Farm proposal is being assessed by an independent panel of experts after it was cleared for fast-tracking by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in December last year.
