Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to โ€œexuberanceโ€? ๐Ÿฅ

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Postโ€™s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, weโ€™re โ€œallergic to exuberance.โ€

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps itโ€™s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

Update on Hamilton homicide investigation and appeal for information

The Team from Waikato Police

Scene examinations and further enquiries are ongoing today as Hamilton Police continue to investigate a homicide.

Emergency services were called to a Lake Crescent address at about 6:15pm last night, where it emerged two people had been injured.
One of the victims later died at the scene, and the other was taken to Waikato Hospital in serious condition.

Detective Inspector Daryl Smith, District Manager Criminal Investigations, says scene examinations are being conducted at two locations.

โ€œWe have officers working at the Lake Crescent address, and also at a second location of interest, several hundred metres away โ€“ the toilet block at the yacht club.โ€

Detective Inspector Smith says Police are actively working to locate those involved, and ask anyone who may have information that could help Police who has not already spoken with us to come forward.

โ€œWe believe those involved have travelled on foot between our two scene locations, so we would encourage anyone who may have seen anything in the area to contact us,โ€ he says.
โ€œWe know this will be an unsettling time for those in our community that such violence occurred in a public place.
I can reassure people we are working hard to hold people to account.โ€
