Hamilton Gardens
Thanks to Councillor Angela O'Leary yesterday at Council, she has pushed through a resolution that a proper business managment plan be adopted for the Gardens. This will mean that every avenue for revenue/expenses will be looked at to enable the remaining Gardens to be finished within a proper time frame. This will also mean that any indication of entry fees being charged will be thoroughly discussed and probably taken out to public consultation. So there is no need to panic everybody. She has had more people contact her on her Facebook page regarding this matter than there were people voting in the last local body elections. How strange is that? People don't vote to choose their representatives but they jump up and down when one of those people suggest an idea to charge for something!!! The old saying goes.........if you haven't voted - you have no right to complain....
How very true.... But I'm glad so many people reacted as I'm a passionate supporter/volunteer at the Gardens and its great to know they are so supported by everyone.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.4% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
26.1% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.5% ... It is complicated
