Six seats. That’s all it takes for one of New Zealand’s most celebrated chefs to make his grand return home.
After closing the doors of Napier’s acclaimed Pacifica, a restaurant that earned three Cuisine hats and was twice crowned New Zealand’s Best Regional Restaurant, chef Jeremy Rameka and his partner - sommelier Natalie Bulman - are trading their seaside stage for something far smaller and far more personal.
Their new venture, Ni, will seat just six diners at a time in a tiny railway cottage in the heart of Kākahi, near Taumarunui.

Derelict Tokanui Hospital site in line for a clean-up
Derelict Tokanui Hospital buildings will be demolished and contaminated land cleaned up so the site can be offered back to iwi.
The former psychiatric hospital, southeast of Te Awamutu, sits on land taken from Ngāti Maniapoto under the Public Works Act in 1910.
