Large tree blocking road
A large tree has fallen on River Road partially crushing two cars who were heading into the city.
After a wet night, the tree came down shortly before 9am near the intersection with Clarkin Road.
What you should know:
- River Rd can be accessed via north of Comries Rd or south of Fairfield Rd.
- Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.

Derelict Tokanui Hospital site in line for a clean-up
Derelict Tokanui Hospital buildings will be demolished and contaminated land cleaned up so the site can be offered back to iwi.
The former psychiatric hospital, southeast of Te Awamutu, sits on land taken from Ngāti Maniapoto under the Public Works Act in 1910.
