Carter Holt Harvey is looking to close its Tokoroa-based plywood manufacturing plant and import ply from overseas with the loss of up to 119 full-time jobs.
E Tū Union spokesman for the site, Red Middlemiss has this morning confirmed that staff and union members were told on Monday that their jobs were on the line.

Widow’s fight for change after husband’s ‘blasé’ care at Waikato Hospital
Nigel Dring had looked forward to retirement, but only got months to enjoy it.
His death in July 2023 - two days after a medical appointment - sparked an investigation at Waikato Hospital and his widow says she’s still shocked at “blasé” treatment in the days before he died.
While Nigel had told one doctor he was “really struggling to breathe”, no-one made them feel like he was in danger, Lynn Dring said.
