Jetstar will launch its first domestic service out of Hamilton with daily direct flights to and from the Garden City of Christchurch from December 1.

It’s the first time Jetstar has operated a domestic route out of Hamilton, and the first time two airlines will fly competing jet services on the same domestic route with Air New Zealand about to start its own Hamilton to Christchurch service on September 18.

Widow’s fight for change after husband’s ‘blasé’ care at Waikato Hospital

Nigel Dring had looked forward to retirement, but only got months to enjoy it.

His death in July 2023 - two days after a medical appointment - sparked an investigation at Waikato Hospital and his widow says she’s still shocked at “blasé” treatment in the days before he died.

While Nigel had told one doctor he was “really struggling to breathe”, no-one made them feel like he was in danger, Lynn Dring said.
