On the busiest sale day for New Zealand retailers, one of the country’s largest department stores was turning customers away after its Eftpos system went down for hours before it was restored late afternoon.
Around midday on Boxing Day, employees of Hamilton’s Centre Place Farmers stood at the entrance and apologetically told shoppers they could either pay with cash, or they would have to look elsewhere.
