"“Doing Business with China: Understanding Chinese Culture and Raising Cultural Awareness & Business Success”
“Doing Business with China: Understanding Chinese Culture and Raising Cultural Awareness & Business Success –
an evening Workshop,” Thursday 5 May 2022 from 6:30-8:30pm.
If your company is planning to or currently working with China, then this is the workshop for you! Come and spend 2 hours with Anne Cao, a business consultant specialising in the Chinese market, and learn some cultural cues and clues in order to steer clear of any cultural or religious faux pas.
Location: EarthDiverse Trust, 401 Anglesea Street, Hamilton Central, Hamilton; or on-line via Zoom.
TOPICS COVERED IN THIS SESSION:
Culture: a culture has certain values that are observed across many aspects of everyday life. Knowing which they are is a real help that impacts the quality of your contacts and experiences. Learn about the importance of family, loyalty, the crucial value of Guanxi, which can be translated as ‘relationships’ or ʻconnections’ and much more.
Social behaviour: What behaviours, gestures and initiatives should you adopt while doing business with Chinese partners and why? Which should you avoid? What is going to be seen as favourable behaviour for closing a deal with Chinese business partners?
Greetings and Thanks: Learn how to introduce yourself, how to greet other people at different times of the day and how to say goodbye, remembering that the initiative to use the language of your commercial counterparts, even if with only a few simple phrases, shows your willingness to establish a connection and get things right.

The property in Woodcock Rd - notable for having a hydroslide in the back yard - the scene of now-disproved alleged sexual offending by Hamilton dentist Rahul Gautam - made headlines more than 15 years ago, when it was a focus in the case of accountant Gary Soffe.
