Mano Neighbourly Lead from Silverdale

Various Councils had protested against the three waters proposal. Matamata Piako District Council has no faith in the three water proposals. As per the Hamilton Ratepayers Association email received today, on Thursday 30th September Hamilton City Council will meet at 9.30 am to prepare feedback on this proposal. Ratepayers Association had been informed of a protest outside Council chambers on Thursday 30th September at 9.00 am. Email received from HRRA also requests to, go to the website - Stop the Three Waters Reforms (threewaterssubmission.nz) and message the Councillors before Thursday.

‘Devastated and disappointed’ - former students hope it wasn’t one of their own

Former students of Taupō Nui-a-Tia College say they’re “devastated” and “disappointed” after the alleged arson at their school which has left an entire block of classrooms, and a health centre destroyed by fire.

Emergency services were called to the school about 2.15pm on Sunday, when plumes of black smoke could be seen across town.

Once touted as an anglers paradise, and a top water-sport playground on the Waikato River, Mangakino is in danger of becoming a ghost town as toxic algal blooms slowly suck the life out of its main attraction - Lake Maraetai.

Locals say cyanobacterial algal blooms in the river’s hydro lakes have become more frequent over the past five years, and when they arrive no-one can swim or fish in them.

Tamahere home in dentist case was once centre of accountant’s fraud

It’s been a feature in a recent Hamilton District Court trial , but a Tamahere mansion already has an complicated history.

The property in Woodcock Rd - notable for having a hydroslide in the back yard - the scene of now-disproved alleged sexual offending by Hamilton dentist Rahul Gautam - made headlines more than 15 years ago, when it was a focus in the case of accountant Gary Soffe.
