EarthDiverse Term 2 classes beginning week of Monday 4 May
EarthDiverse is pleased to announce its Term 2 lineup of language and religious diversity classes beginning next week (week of Monday 4 May). Language classes on offer this Term are Arabic 101; Hebrew 104; Hindi 101, 102 and 104; and Urdu 102. Religious Diversity classes on offer this Term are ʻReligious Fundamentalism, Extremism & Terrorismʻ and ʻWorld Religions: Islamʻ. Both “on-line live-streaming” and “in-person” classes are available. All “in-person” classes are live-streamed during Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. Those living outside of the Waikato may now register for our “on-line live-streamed” classes! Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

Derelict Tokanui Hospital site in line for a clean-up
Derelict Tokanui Hospital buildings will be demolished and contaminated land cleaned up so the site can be offered back to iwi.
The former psychiatric hospital, southeast of Te Awamutu, sits on land taken from Ngāti Maniapoto under the Public Works Act in 1910.
