Poll: Do you think the Te Rapa racecourse should be turned into a housing development?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Pedestrians pounding pavements will likely replace galloping hooves when Te Rapa Racecourse is redeveloped, experts say.

Waikato Racing wants to create a hub for thoroughbred racing which would combine Te Rapa, Cambridge and Waipā clubs at a purpose built facility at a new address.

Do you think the Te Rapa racecourse should be turned into a housing development? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).

‘Devastated and disappointed’ - former students hope it wasn’t one of their own

Emergency services were called to the school about 2.15pm on Sunday, when plumes of black smoke could be seen across town.

Is there an algae issue where you are?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Once touted as an anglers paradise, and a top water-sport playground on the Waikato River, Mangakino is in danger of becoming a ghost town as toxic algal blooms slowly suck the life out of its main attraction - Lake Maraetai.

Locals say cyanobacterial algal blooms in the river’s hydro lakes have become more frequent over the past five years, and when they arrive no-one can swim or fish in them.
