monster garage sale/ Market Day being planned

Barbara from Enderley

hi there everyone. As we know, so many people struggle with depression and anxiety nowadays but it can be difficult finding support. Evolve Peer Support Trust is a charity based group trying to do something practical.

Monster Garage Sale/Market day

We need your help!!!

Evolve is a charity that helps your community in a very positive way by running groups that directly support those who live with Depression and /or Anxiety. It is based on the peer support principle that those who “walk the walk” and “talk the talk” can offer a greater depth of understanding and specific support. We currently run a group in Te Awamutu, several groups in Hamilton and a specialised group for those who also live with Autism. The need is obviously there for these groups and we plan to expand throughout the Waikato and other areas. But we need funds to achieve this.

All money raised at this event goes directly to the running of these support groups. Come along and support this worthwhile cause and grab yourself some bargains!!!

Date: Saturday 21st April 7.30am to 2pm

Place: St Aidan’s Church Hall, Corner of Thames Street and Heaphy Tce, Claudelands, Hamilton

Can you help? Help us to help others!

We need lots of goods to sell....are you de-cluttering?? Do you have stuff you don’t need or want that you could donate?? Perhaps you could help volunteer on the day?? We would be very appreciative of any items and support you can give us. Pickup of goods can be arranged. If you want more information on this event or have items to donate, contact

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Derelict Tokanui Hospital site in line for a clean-up

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Derelict Tokanui Hospital buildings will be demolished and contaminated land cleaned up so the site can be offered back to iwi.

The former psychiatric hospital, southeast of Te Awamutu, sits on land taken from Ngāti Maniapoto under the Public Works Act in 1910.

Poll: Are you a Te Huia fan?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

All three Hamilton MPs appear to be united behind the retention of the Te Huia passenger rail service between Hamilton and Auckland, as well as potentially expanding it to Tauranga.

But whether Hamilton East’s Ryan Hamilton, Hamilton West’s Tama Potaka and soon-to-be Labour list MP Georgie Dansey have the combined power to shunt transport minister Chris Bishop and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon onto their line of thinking remains to be seen.

Are you a Te Huia fan? Tell us more in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).
