Hamilton Book Month on throughout August
Hamilton Book Month is on again this August with 21 events running through the month. There's fiction, wine writers, storytelling, an open mic night, lit pub quiz, a local authors event, writing competition, a talk by a self-published author about her 65 books, blokes' book club, Witi Ihimaera evening, lit salon, children's and picture book authors etc. There's also workshops on scriptwriting, speculative fiction, writing children's fiction, poetry and memoir. The butcher with a taste for adventure

‘Devastated and disappointed’ - former students hope it wasn’t one of their own
Former students of Taupō Nui-a-Tia College say they’re “devastated” and “disappointed” after the alleged arson at their school which has left an entire block of classrooms, and a health centre destroyed by fire.
Emergency services were called to the school about 2.15pm on Sunday, when plumes of black smoke could be seen across town.
