The new commuter train to Auckland has a name - Te Huia. As reporter Mike Mather writes here, The Tron Express was popular but ran into strong opposition at the Waikato District Council.

At the post-Cabinet press conference, the National Party asserted they want public sector staff to return to the office. This has opened a conversation about other sectors in New Zealand who have adopted working from home (WFH).

Clams create a construction water challenge
Pest clams have created a challenge for NZTA as it prepares to extend the Waikato Expressway to Piarere.
The project will need water and Lake Karāpiro’s a nearby source - but it’s also infiltrated by gold clams, first found in the Waikato River in May 2023.
