Nuisance calls

John from Dinsdale

Still getting these BUT now have Caller ID. Useful link below:
www.spark.co.nz...

Interesting tip - new phone said when setting up, don't "add zero" if in Australia but do "add zero" if in NZ, so I set it to do that so a Hamilton caller would appear as 07 846 .... instead of 7 846 ....
My first call was from 00 784 62.. - that's from a Caribbean island so I didn't answer. Had 2nd thoughts and reset to don't add zero which caused the number to display as 07 846 2... - Hamilton no. which I should have answered.

It appears the instructions are out of date in the phone's manual. If you're in NZ on Copper lines, do add zero but if on fibre, don't

Wild weather in the Waikato

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Waikato really copped it over the weekend, with wild weather leaving a hefty clean-up bill that may run into the millions.

While things are looking calmer in the days ahead, there are still plenty of slips and flooded roads across the district — so if you’re heading out, take it easy and stay alert.

We want to know: How did you and your whānau get on over the weekend?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
