Fluent te reo speaker and Government minister Tama Potaka would “love” to see all MPs increase their use of the Māori language to communicate more effectively in modern-day Aotearoa.
The National Party Hamilton West MP’s comments come in an interview about Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, which runs from September 14 to September 21.

A wallaby spotted in Hamilton was probably kept as a pet, the regional council says - and that’s “simply irresponsible”.
The dama wallaby, which had an immature joey in its pouch, was spotted in Frankton on March 3, reported and killed, Waikato Regional Council says.
