Learn about the world's great faith and belief traditions. EarthDiverse is pleased to announce its Term 2 course “Understanding Islam”, which provides a detailed and objective introduction to the history, texts, beliefs and practices of the Islamic faith. This course meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm beginning on 11 May. Both in-person and on-line distance-learning options available via Zoom. Our second Term 2 course is an in-person course only offered in Te Awamutu, entitled “Contemporary Belief and Practice.” This course meets on alternate Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm beginning on 19 May. As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

Derelict Tokanui Hospital site in line for a clean-up
Derelict Tokanui Hospital buildings will be demolished and contaminated land cleaned up so the site can be offered back to iwi.
The former psychiatric hospital, southeast of Te Awamutu, sits on land taken from Ngāti Maniapoto under the Public Works Act in 1910.
