Unwanted wool
A group of us (mainly older ladies) knit blankets, gloves, scarves, jumpers etc., for a charity called 'Mission Without Borders' (non-denominational). All our work goes to poor countries such as Moldova and Romania but also to other poor countries roundabout. If anyone has left over wool - part balls, odd balls, etc - anything is gratefully received - that are willing to donate, we would love to have it. It's a good feeling knowing that needy people are benefiting from our 'left-overs' and from our handiwork. I am happy to pick any wool up or to arrange for it to be picked up. As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

Derelict Tokanui Hospital site in line for a clean-up
Derelict Tokanui Hospital buildings will be demolished and contaminated land cleaned up so the site can be offered back to iwi.
The former psychiatric hospital, southeast of Te Awamutu, sits on land taken from Ngāti Maniapoto under the Public Works Act in 1910.
