Get Involved – June 1st to 30th 🤝
This month we’re rolling up our sleeves, putting up our hands, and saying ‘YES’ to giving our time and skills to projects that make Aotearoa a better place to live.
As a mostly volunteer led organisation, our members know first hand the value and impact that a single volunteer can make in our communities. Imagine then how much can be achieved when several volunteers or even an entire street or neighbourhood decide to work together to achieve the same goal!
Whether you plan to coordinate your own volunteer driven activity, take part in one that’s already been setup, participate in National Volunteer Week (16-22 June), or simply show your own volunteers some extra love this month, know that every bit of effort to give back is a priceless investment in all of our futures.

Stand-Out Festive Decor: Build a Big DIY Nutcracker
Whip up a larger-than-life nutcracker and have it standing guard to greet guests this Christmas. This is an ideal opportunity to repurpose last year’s baubles, leftover Resene paint testpots and leftover materials from previous projects. 🎉 Exciting news for Southland! We’re getting a brand new museum – the Te Unua Museum of Southland!
⏳ The not-so-great news? It’s still a little way off. The Invercargill City Council has decided to wait until the museum is fully finished in late 2027 before opening, instead of opening parts early at extra cost.
We want to hear from you: Would it be worth investing more money to open the museum in stages, even if it costs more, or is waiting for the full experience the better option?
