Selwyn Gets Ready Notice

Matthew Salmons Reporter from Selwyn & Ashburton Outlook

Selwyn Police advise that last night between 6 and 8:30pm a burglary occurred in Wards Road. During this time at a neighbouring address a female was caught looking into the sitting room, and when challenged by the occupant she stated that she needed petrol.
She had arrived in a Silver Nissan Tida motor vehicle that was driven by a male.

Descriptions:
Female - Caucasian, 18-20, wearing black 3/4 pants, black frilly top, long straight black hair.
Male - Māori/Pacific Islander, 18-20.

If you have any information relating to this incident please call the Police on (03) 363 7400. They would much rather receive information that turns out to be unrelated than have people not call.
Remember, if you see anything that might be suspicious call the Police immediately on 111.
Stay safe and look after your neighbours.
From the Selwyn Emergency Management Team.

Poll: Would you take a 1.5-hour hike for a shop? 🌿🐦

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Canterbury, you have a hidden treasure right on your doorstep ... though it does come with a 1.5-hour walk up the stunning Rakaia Gorge Walkway.

Along the trail you’ll find The Fantail Shop showcasing small artworks by local artisans. Even better, every purchase supports the Fantail Trust, helping protect and restore biodiversity on the north bank of the gorge.

So we’re curious: would you take a 1.5-hour hike for a shop? (And for local biodiversity, of course 🌿)
