A face in the sand at Foxton
I took the photo as proof, ran back to my car and got outa there fast. Anything can happen at Foxton.
What you are looking at is the steep bank of sand beside the river where the sand hills end, just before you reach the actual beach at Foxton. I took some photos of the bank just because I thought the patterns and textures of the sand were like a work of art. Then when I got home I noticed that there was a suggestion of a face or 2 in the pattern. So I added the eyes of my cat and dragged the sand to enhance the shape of the mouth or tongue. Then finally I dragged some of the ripples in the sand to make it all a bit weirder. The sharper and more contrasty horizontal pattern near the top is where the steep bank levelled off to the top of the sand hill.

Harrier Hawk 0823
Harrier Hawks seem to have flight routines. It was not uncommon to see one flying southwards over Burn St from the Roslyn Rd area as this one was doing. I often wondered if it was always the same hawk but anyway I've not seen it happen recently.
