Covid-19 vaccination rates

George Heagney Reporter from Manawatū Standard

Evening neighbours,

The number of people who have had their Covid-19 vaccination continue to grow. Have you had your jab yet?

The Ministry of Health has released the latest statistics for vaccination rates at each district health board, broken down to the suburb, based on percentage of the eligible population.

Within MidCentral, the area with the highest percentage of fully vaccinated people is Linton Camp, with 83.5 per cent of people there having had both doses and 95 per cent having had their first dose. Hokowhitu Central, Poutoa and Ruahine have all had more than 60 per cent of people having had both doses.

At the opposite end of the scale, Shannon (32.6 per cent), Highbury East (33.8 per cent) and Palmerston North Central (35.5 per cent) have had the lowest percentage of people to get both doses.

Te Horo south of Ōtaki has one of the highest rate of Māori who are fully vaccinated with 49.1 per cent and Whakarongo has one of the higher rates of Pasifika people who are fully vaccinated with 81.8 per cent.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
