If there is one thing you can do.
Hi all,
If there is one thing you can do, apart from making good personal choices, for the environment this year it is this....
Come to the meeting 6pm Monday 6th July at the council chambers.
Over the years a small group of dedicated people have been fighting to close an outdated waste management system that is ruining the environment. If you don't think you or your family are being affected by this...think again. The toxic gases released from the landfill are in the very air you breathe. Our water, our land, our air sustains us. The landfill is adversely affecting all of these. There is an agreement in place to close the landfill however the council are dragging their feet on naming a closure date. We must encourage them to make the right decision and how we can do this is by coming to the meeting and adding our voice to protest the delay. It is now, and we are the people who must, make the council (our representatives) do the right thing for all of us. This is a key turning point for the community. Think of the planet. Think of our kids.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
0% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
0% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
0% ... It is complicated
