are you like me, retired & too much time on your hands, wracking your brain for constructive use of this precious commodity ?
well i can thoroughly recommend this excercise in scroogonomy
once you have emptied your teapot & about to dispose of your used teabags try this
squeeze out excess moisture & place teabag on the windowsill for a day to dry out
once this is done get an old baked bean tin or other small container & put in dried teabag & add about a teaspoon of kerosene ( available from your supermarket or hardware store)
leave overnite to soak, take out regenerated teabag & put in a suitable storage container with a waterproof lid, this is for safety & to eliminate the kerosene odour
I have been using this method for the last 3 winters

Take one plain wooden dining chair and make it a stand-alone statement piece with two Resene colours. You don’t always need a full set of dining chairs; they can be statement pieces all on their own!

You could use a chair like this in a home office, as a plant stand, or as a bedside table for your books and lamp. Painting one chair is an easy way to inject a bit of colour into a room too.

Make the most of this weekend with this easy step by step project idea from Resene.

Find out how to create your own.

Architect

Russell from Himatangi

Hello,

Looking for recommendations for a good reasonable residential Architect. We are looking at some additions to our place and need an Architect to manage the design and consent procedure.

We live at Himatangi Beach and would of course like this as soon as possible.

Sorry!

Paul from Levin

I apologise, but I really had no choice! I'm not allowed to leave my property so I was left with no alternative other than to photograph sparrows on my back lawn. Who would have thought.....?

And believe me the May issue is packed with the good stuff, with ideas of what you can sow, plant, pick and preserve to make the most of your garden right now, plus Lynda Hallinan reflects on 60 lessons for gardeners from the lockdown, a bumper gardening quiz, and you can visit a spectacular Taupō garden alive with birds, a whimsical wonderland in Glenorchy in full bloom and meet the clever and resourceful gardeners of the Chatham Islands... all without leaving your bubble. And thanks so much to everyone who has been in touch to offer their support to the NZ Gardener team, especially those who have subscribed or renewed or purchased a subscription as a gift (an NZ Gardener subscription is a great Mother's Day idea, just sayin'!) We are so grateful to you all, and it's your support that allows us to keep inspiring and informing gardeners from all around New Zealand as we have been doing now for more than 75 years. Please share this message with your gardening groups on social too. We’re looking forward to the many more years of celebrating the amazing gardens and gardeners of New Zealand that lie ahead.
