It seems strange that Horowhenua District Council intend spending this money whilst at the same time nitrite spilloffs will continue to pour into the lake, from agricultural and dairying practices in the surrounding area. Alongside that in the Adoption of the Annual Plan 2020, HDC plan that 'Council officers continue working towards acquiring a discharge consent for stormwater from Councils stormwater network to Lake Horowhenua from Horizons Regional Council'. Does anyone besides me find that counterproductive to spend so much money on a Lake cleanup while continuing to pour heavy metals and other contaminants into the Lake?

Add that up over a period of say three years and the person who is already experiencing financial difficulty will be in even deeper debt. If the postponed rates plus costs are not paid back at the required time Council have the ability to sell the property to claim the debt. If you know of anyone intending to take this up please inform them of the costs involved and requirement to pay back in full when the ‘ event’ for which the rates postponement is deemed no longer active.

On Tuesday night, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced there were four new Covid-19 cases in the community.
Auckland moved into level 3 at midday on Wednesday, and the rest of the country into level 2.
Kiwis outside of Auckland can still continue to go to work and school, with physical distancing, and are advised to wear masks in public.
Businesses can open to the public if they are following public health guidance, which includes physical distancing and record keeping.
In terms of gatherings, New Zealanders must not travel to events with more than 100 people. This includes weddings, birthdays, funerals and tangihanga.
The Government advises all Kiwis to practise good hygiene and stay home if sick.
