Iconic Apiti Gateway
Just as Taihape has the gumboot and Feilding has the clocktower, Apiti is now roaring with this majestic stag to call their own!
The 3.5 metre icon built by Steven Clothier was officially opened over the weekend in Apiti.
A special mention goes to the Apiti community committee and its residents who did their part to fundraise for such a trademark that will become the gateway to the Ruahine Ranges for many years to come.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
