Portraits taken by one of New Zealand’s most prominent photographers are being celebrated on the walls of the Portrait Gallery in Wellington this month.

The exhibition features well-known faces from New Zealand's arts scene in the mid and back half of the 20th century including Rita Angus, Ralph Hotere, C. K. Stead, Maurice Gee, Neil Finn and Kiri Te Kanawa.

The collection will be on public display until November 8.

It will the the second year in a row the event will not go ahead after this year’s festival at Easter was grounded following the Government's call to end mass gatherings.
