Help LYF 4U Help Our Hospital

Maree from Carterton District

www.lyf4u.co.nz
A warm winter's welcome to you,

MAREES WEEKLY QUOTE;
“It takes each of us to make a difference for all of us.” —(Jackie Mutcheson.)
I hope you are managing to keep as well as you can , for the time of year .
As you can imagine , it is at this time of year that all Hospitals are stretched to maximum capacity. Our Masterton/Wairarap Hospital is no different.
If you have ever been to Masterton Hospital, through to the Medical Wards you may have noticed there is a row of single hospital rooms...
These rooms are used for patients who are very ill or passing over. They are not the best holistic environment for either recovery or passing over.
They are dull, lifeless and to be honest a little depressing.
The staff are tremendous.
The hospital is awesome.
Yet resources are stretched.
So LYF 4U chose to help remedy part of that situation. To create a room that meets a more soothing healing or passing environment.
LYF 4U has been calling and visiting local businesses with the opportunity to donate to this project either appliances, or time.
I have been proud and humbled by those who have been able to offer in some way...Thank you.
The original project of the room refurbishment has now become 3 separate projects ....with also a few appliances extending to the other ward rooms at the Hospital.
Project 1;
LYF 4U and many other wonderful businesses, are helping to refurbish a room. 6th and 7th July.
Special thanks to Kurt Mendes of #bestblokes Painters, who are donating both days and 2 men to repaint the walls.
(The Hospital could only grant me 48 hrs to complete this) as they are so busy.
This project will completely finish Thursday/Friday 6/7th July this week.
Project 2.
LYF 4U has begun to give a little page;(1 month) duration.
Goal;
To raise $4,890.00 to purchase 6 Lazy Boy chairs (at cost) through Bryans Furniture...
To replace several very old chairs, as well as offer sleeping space for relatives of family patients passing.
It is a vital choice to remain with your loved one, who is passing over, day and night. If the decision is made to stay, these chairs provide you somewhere to sleep, in the same room.
Please donate if you can.
givealittle.co.nz...
Project 3.
LYF 4U is setting up a Lockable "LYF 4U -Care-Cupboard"
To be kept on ward.
Items will be monitored and distributed by staff on a case by case basis, for families of loved ones who are either passing over or very ill, who unexpectedly stay over. This cupboard will house various everyday care products.
Donations to date;
Lavender Abby - Fragrance and massage lotions (for massaging your loved ones"
Shine Greytown -Dry shampoo/products
A.G. (Gift) - A donation of $500.00, and also ongoing support.
LYF 4U will purchase many other items using the awesome donation form A.G. (Gift)
Books, affirming words- When your loved one is passing, or gravely ill- It can be very emotional and hard to know what to say. These books specifically chosen; will offer "the right words" to guide your caring conversation peacefully/supportively//correctly.
I have called/met and picked up from many businesses.
Currently these awesome donors are as follows;
The Sign Factory- Creating a sign to go on the wall of the donors/sponsors of this project;
Bestblokes Painters- are- repainting the walls in a lovely soothing colour
Resene Paints- medical grade paint for the walls.
Newbolds - TV, and a music system
The Sanctuary- An Air diffuser
The Whole Nine Yards- large cream coloured blind
La Fluer Florist- Silk Arrangement
Bryans Furniture- Lazy boy/s- 6 at cost
Paper Plus- Supportive reading material
Take Note Carterton - Affirmations Calendar
Peter Nicholiason Photos -2 canvases for the room as well as several other canvases for the larger ward rooms.
Mitre 10 - A lockable cupboard for the care items to be kept on the medical ward.
Maisons -Eketahuna - Throw Rug and pillows...open 7 days a week.
We have a 48 hr or less window to have full room use and coordinate painters , fitters etc, so anything I can gather together beforehand will ease that pressure.
On the day I hope to have a brief reopening...with a Karakia...
If you can donate to the Give a Little page for the Lazyboys chairs, that would be awesome.
Huge thanks goes to all the sponsors, donators of time, gifts/paint and materials to ensure this project's success.. May you never need to use this room..yet if you do, know it has been created with 100% love and blessings 4U.
Please share this page , and join me at my business fb page LYF 4U..
Lets make this happen! x
Have a wonderful Childrens holiday, keep warm, well and wanted.

⚠️ DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS. If you love them, don't leave them. ⚠️

The Team from SPCA New Zealand

It's a message we share time and time again, and this year, we're calling on you to help us spread that message further.
Did you know that calls to SPCA about dogs left inside hot cars made up a whopping 11% of all welfare calls last summer? This is a completely preventable issue, and one which is causing hundreds of dogs (often loved pets) to suffer.
Here are some quick facts to share with the dog owners in your life:

👉 The temperature inside a car can heat to over 50°C in less than 15 minutes.
👉 Parking in the shade and cracking windows does little to help on a warm day. Dogs rely on panting to keep cool, which they can't do in a hot car.
👉 This puts dogs at a high risk of heatstroke - a serious condition for dogs, with a mortality rate between 39%-50%.
👉 It is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act to leave a dog in a hot vehicle if they are showing signs of heat stress. You can be fined, and prosecuted.
SPCA has created downloadable resources to help you spread the message even further. Posters, a flyer, and a social media tile can be downloaded from our website here: www.spca.nz...
We encourage you to use these - and ask your local businesses to display the posters if they can. Flyers can be kept in your car and handed out as needed.
This is a community problem, and one we cannot solve alone. Help us to prevent more tragedies this summer by sharing this post.
On behalf of the animals - thank you ❤️
