The MOC, based at Police National Headquarters in Wellington, is providing logistical, resource and communication support to all districts along the hīkoi route.
Major Operations Director Superintendent Kelly Ryan says Police have been engaged with hīkoi organisers for many weeks.
“Our discussions with organisers to date have been positive and we expect the hīkoi to be conducted in a peaceful and lawful manner,” she says.
The hīkoi is expected to leave Northland today (Monday 11 November) and travel to Wellington, arriving at Parliament between Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 November.
“We’ve planned for large numbers to join the hīkoi, with disruption likely to some roads, including highways and main streets along the route,” Superintendent Ryan says.
“The MOC will support our frontline, district-based staff with the management of people, vehicles and activities, while also maintaining central oversight.
“We will continue to co-ordinate with iwi leaders and our partners across government to ensure public safety and minimal disruption to people going about their daily routine.
“We’re also well connected with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and local councils to ensure road users have up-to-date information and can plan accordingly.
“The MOC will remain in place while the hīkoi is in Wellington and as participants make their way back home safely.”

The loyalty and offical welcome of a guard dogs.
The compannionship all pets offer, espcially if lonely.
The fun of the ball games on the lawn.
The fitness mate on long walks,
The ever present love during illness,
And yes the pouch pics in the family frames.
So please lets be sure to love and protect them, as our valued family, in the same way during #guyfawkes
Below are a few tips;
Exercise your pet, so they don’t have excess energy,
Provide food distraction, like toys, bones, long term chewing helps them
Have music playing
Keep pets inside
Close all curtains
Compression/comfort wrapping can be used
You can buy calming products to give during the fireworks season..as a precautionary.
If your pet is outside - like rabbits, ensure extra bedding like straw are added..and if possible put them in a closed space.
Your pet will try to run from their fears- be sure your pet is identifiable, eg, Tags. Chipped.
Don’t light fireworks at home- go to a professional display and keep us all safe
If you attend a professional display-keep all pets at home away from the fireworks

While it is a fun occasion, fireworks on Guy Fawkes Night has caused much conflict over the years, upsetting our pets and disrupting the sleep of neighbours.

I was thinking of getting KFC for lunch yesterday, but thought I would try something a little better.
So, i popped into "The Sultans Boofiya Kitchen" at 308 Queen Street, Masterton.
For $13 I got a lunchtime special of curry ( my choice was Rogan Josh ), fried rice, a big naan bread and a drink.
Got it home and dare i say, it was perfect.
I actually had enough ( for me ) for two meals.
The quality and taste were excellent and I think the value was outstanding.
The staff were also very friendly.
I think their menu is very good and is not all Indian cuisine, so a bit of variety for everyone.
I encourage you all to check them out.
