An Excellent Builder - Recommending
I had a full Inspection done by Davidson Building & Inspections Ltd (0220831553) for a large house in Mornington prior to buying in July. Andrew Davidson prepared a very fulsome 90 page report from subfloor to roof tiles. I carried on with the purchase and approached him to basically rebuild the subfloor supports as the existing piles and joists were lying on the ground wet-rotted. Only one support was holding up the front aspect, two walls.
I've been very impressed with his quiet, steadfast work ethic and the job is nearing completion. I've photographed each step as it will soon be invisible under concrete and the wall of the house. Instead of ripping up the kitchen units and floor Andrew went in from the outside and then under. He quoted a costing range, not being specifically certain - of course - what would be found. I've had an invoice for work to date and it is tracking at the lower end of that range. He has not tried to gouge a higher cost and in fact made suggestions in terms of more cost-effective labour for heavy lifting work that would save me per hour costs.
For both the Report and the building work I am delighted with what he has done. I would, and have, recommended him highly.
He also built a retaining wall at the bottom of a steep bank. I'm delighted with that also, at a non-horrifying cost. The photo is just prior to completion as the paving wasn't then back in place. Now very tidy.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
