Flat fee for Dunedin bus users proposed

Dunedin bus users may pay a flat fare as the regional council investigates a post-Covid-19 network.

The proposal, which will go to the Otago Regional Council on Wednesday, would see the introduction of a flat fare of $2 for adults and $1.50 cents for children per trip, using a new Bee Card ticketing system.

Meanwhile, bus travel would be free for SuperGold card holders, who currently can travel free between 9am and 3pm on weekdays.

The sudden appearance of colourful circles along Dunedin's main shopping streets has left some seeing red.

About 450 circles were painted along George and Princes streets from Sunday night as part of a range of temporary measures approved by the Dunedin City Council in response to Covid-19.

The sudden appearance of colourful circles along Dunedin's main shopping streets has left some seeing red.

About 450 circles were painted along George and Princes streets from Sunday night as part of a range of temporary measures approved by the Dunedin City Council in response to Covid-19.

The measures include lowering the speed limit from 30kmh to 10kmh, adding free parking, letting shops expand onto footpaths, and installing temporary speed humps and circles to remind road users of shared spaces.
