On June 2, 2023, at Taradale Masonic Rest Home, having just celebrated his 91st birthday, David, known to many as ‘Sabo’, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family. Dearly loved husband of Gretchen for 65 years. Loved father and father-in-law of Jane and Duncan Barr, and Anthony and Anna Sabiston. Treasured grandfather and ‘DW’ of Jack and Sarah, Sophie and Tim, and William, Jonty and Lucy. Special
great-grandfather of Emma, Harrison and Hugo. The family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Taradale Masonic Rest Home for all their care, love and support. A private cremation has been held as per David’s wishes, and a public service will also be held on Friday, June 9, at the Napier War Memorial Conference Centre, at 2.00pm.
