AICKEN, DouglasAlfred George (Dougy)
September 19, 1942 —
March 16, 2023
Hand like a giant, foot to match
Stood tall and proud
Considered himself
Any lucky women’s catch.
Raised in the Land of the Long White Cloud
Came to Australia
Intentions of making everyone proud.
He walked that country mile
RM boots in place
And that big Doug Aicken smile
All over his face.
Slim Dusty wore the hat turned down
Dougy chose to wear his floppy
All around.
A voice that would raise the dead
A handshake firm and hard
A big g’day as you entered the yard.
I know in this point and time he’ll be looking down
Saying, come on fellas, one more round.
A father to four
A brother to more
I know one thing and that’s for sure
They’re in for a hell of a shock
When Doug Aicken is at Heaven’s door.
