5 knot (10km/h) speed limit on Waipu River and 200m out from all shorelines
An increasing number of people seem to think the Waipu river is a great place to rip up and down on jetskis and waterski, and claim not to know about the speed limits. For those who are unsure, NOBODY should be doing more than 5 knots anywhere within 200m of a shoreline (this includes rivers). Jetskis are also required to clearly display a registration number or be liable for an instant fine. If you wish to help educate others and keep our rivers and beaches safe for swimmers and non-motorised craft (as well as preventing erosion), I've attached some screen shots below and here is a link to the full rules: www.nrc.govt.nz...

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
