What do you think about the axing of Stage Challenge?
On Tuesday the Stage Challenge Foundation said they had emailed teachers and sponsors to say the annual competition could not go ahead as they couldn't afford to continue.
Whangarei Boys High School principal Karen Gilbert- Smith says the news came as a shock. The school won the Northland regional competition at Forum North last June with their performance. As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
