No Market under Level 2 and 25th Anniversary

Thames Market

As announced on Friday, 4/9/20 Thames like most of the country will stay under Alert Level 2 until at least Wednesday, 16th September midnight. So sorry, no market on the 5th and the 12th of September.
A little explanation why we can’t have a market under Level 2:
> Limit of 100 people at outdoor events: a busy market easily reaches 300 people present at peak times.

> Social distancing: 2m distance or even 1m distance between visitors to the market is not practical on the narrow footpaths our stalls are located on.

> Traceability: although we have 6 Tracer QRs displayed, we can’t guarantee that people see them or use them. There are too many access points to the market, actually every car park is an access point.

> Other considerations: residents of Aucklander can freely travel to our market; many of our stallholders and visitors are in the high risk groups - we just don’t want to put what has been achieved in Aotearoa/New Zealand in jeopardy.

So we hope we can reopen Thames Market when we are down to Level 1 again.

25 Years of Thames Market
Many will know that we had planned to celebrate 25 years of Thames Market on September, 5th. As this can’t happen we will have those celebrations on Labour Weekend instead. Thames Market’s 25th anniversary will be celebrated on October, 24th from 8 am to 1 pm. Watch this space.

Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.

While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.

And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?

Got more greens than you know what to do with? 🥦🌱🥕

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!

Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫
